5 of the Best Planets and Moons to Build an Outpost on

3 min

Starfield offers a huge selection of different planets and moons on which you can build an outpost. We show you 5 of the best.

In Starfield you’ll be able to build an outpost and set up your own vacation home there, place workbenches and then manufacture various items or mine resources.

Building an outpost is a worthwhile part of the gameplay in Starfield – the more important is the choice of the planet on which you want to build your outpost.

For our finalists, we traveled to the majority of the planets and moons in Starfield and took a look at them for ourselves. The following made the cut:

  • Andraphon
  • Voss
  • Cassiopeia I
  • Porrima IV-d
  • Eridani II

We will now briefly show you all 5 planets and moons in detail and explain why they are so good.

Table of Contents

Andraphon

Type: Moon (of Sumati) | System: Narion | Type: Karg | Temperature: Temperate | Atmosphere: none | Magnetosphere: none | Fauna: none | Flora: none | Resources: helium, aluminum, iron, beryllium, europium

Starfield Mond Andrapho

What makes the planet so good? Andraphon is a moon of the planet Sumati in the Narion system and is particularly well suited as a first outpost, as it offers three resources needed for many structures.

If you are building an outpost, you will need a lot of aluminum and iron. If you are also powering your extractors with a generator, a supply of helium-3 is an advantage.

On Andrapho you have the possibility to mine helium-3 as well as iron and aluminum. You can also find the valuable europium there.

Voss

Type: Moon (from Olivas) | System: Alpha Centauri | Type: Rock | Temperature: Icy
Atmosphere: Thin N2 | Magnetosphere: none Fauna: none | Flora: none |
Resources: Water, lead, nickel, uranium, cobalt, tungsten, vanadium, dysprosium

Starfield Mond Voss

What makes the planet so good? Voss is also a very good location for an outpost at the beginning and an ideal complement to Andraphon. Voss is the moon of Olivas in the “Alpha Centauri” system, which you will visit frequently during the main story.

Voss is a recommended outpost location because it also offers a good selection of important resources not found on Andraphon. Besides nickel, cobalt and uranium, the moon also contains tungsten. There is also vanadium and dysprosium, which you can sell at a comparatively high price.

Cassiopeia I

Type: Planet | System: Cassiopeia | Type: Rock | Temperature: Moderate
Atmosphere: Standard 02 | Magnetosphere: average | Fauna: moderate | Flora: moderate |
Resources: Water, chlorine, nickel, copper, fluorine, cobalt.

Starfield Cassiopeia I

What makes the planet so good? Unlike Andraphon and Voss, we don’t recommend Cassiopeia I because you can dig up useful resources there. Cassiopeia stands out mainly because of its flora and fauna.

You’ll find various creatures and plants on the planet, and you’ll be able to walk on the planet’s surface without having to wear your helmet – perfect for your interstellar vacation home.

To ensure that your outpost on Cassiopeia I is not just a useless vacation destination, you can also mine nickel, cobalt and fluorine there.

Porrima IV-d

Type: Moon (of Porrima IV) | System: Porrima | Type: Rock | Temperature: Temperate
Atmosphere: none | Magnetosphere: none | Fauna: none | Flora: none |
Resources: Water, lead, nickel, uranium, argon, carboxylic acid, neon, plutonium

Starfield Mond Porrima IV-d

What makes the planet so good? We recommend Porrima IV-d as a mining outpost with which you can earn money, because on the moon of Porrima IV-d you can mine the valuable resources carboxylic acid, neon and especially plutonium.

On Porrima IV-d, you also don’t have to expect alien creatures attacking your outpost: there is no fauna at all.

A plutonium farm on Porrima IV-d is also one of our 5 tips on how to legally make money fast in Starfield.

Eridani II

Type: Planet | System: Eridani | Type: Rock | Temperature: Moderate
Atmosphere: Standard 02 | Magnetosphere: average | Fauna: moderate | Flora: moderate |
Resources: Water, chlorine, copper, nickel, iron, fluorine, cobalt, gold.

Starfield Eridani 2

What makes the planet so good? Eridani 2 is not only a beautiful planet with moderate flora and fauna, it combines the feature of a respectable vacation destination with some useful resources.

In addition to iron, which is needed for the construction of an outpost and the production of many resources, the planet offers copper, nickel, cobalt and gold, which is relatively valuable in Starfield.

Likewise, you can explore the planet without a helmet as well as swim in clean water without fearing for your health.

If that’s not enough for you, Eridani 2 is the human-populated planet “Reach” in Halo.

These were our top 5 recommendations for the best planets and moons that you can use for your purposes. Do you have your own favorites that didn’t make our list? Feel free to leave us a comment and tell us why your planets are worthwhile.
