Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that the highly anticipated survival horror game, Alan Wake 2, will include a Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This feature allows players to prioritize a higher frame rate instead of the default 30 FPS. However, there has been no mention of whether the Xbox Series S version will have a similar mode, leaving fans wondering about the developer’s plans.
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by Remedy to Game Informer that Alan Wake 2 will not have a Performance Mode on Xbox Series S. While details about the game’s performance and resolution targets for each system have not yet been revealed, it seems unlikely that players on Xbox Series S will be able to enjoy the game at 60 FPS.
This is not the first time that Remedy Entertainment has encountered technical challenges with the lower-spec Xbox Series S. In 2021, shortly after the release of the current-gen port of Control, the studio discussed the difficulties of optimizing the game for Xbox Series S.
Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
