The genre known as ‘walking simulator’ is about to be hilariously parodied, and the timing couldn’t be better. Baby Steps, created by the same team behind Ape Out and Getting Over It, is a physics-based adventure(?) game that simply requires you to control the legs of Nate, your avatar who’s drowning in life’s struggles. And while it may sound straightforward, the State of Play trailer released today shows otherwise.

In Baby Steps, players will explore a mist-covered world, one step at a time. Traverse peaceful mountains by meticulously placing each footstep, experiencing original gameplay mechanics designed by the minds behind Ape Out and Getting Over It. Immerse yourself in the scenery, fall in love with the local wildlife, and attempt to find purpose in a wasted existence.

The game is set to release later this year for both PC and PS5. It is being published by Devolver Digital, indicating that we can expect a truly unique gaming experience this summer.
