With Phantom Liberty, the first and only expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 was released on September 26, 2023. Fans have been waiting for it hopefully, but for some, the fun was already over in the first mission: If you ignore or overlook a certain objective, you end the DLC and with it the entire questline. Attention: Spoiler.–>
If you let an NPC die that you are supposed to save, this will lead to a Game Over – already in the first mission. You will then see a special cutscene in which Johnny Silverhand first emphasizes your mistake, but then wants to toast your freedom with you.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty: It can all be over so quickly
A Twitter user named SynthPotato has discovered the premature ending in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, more specifically it was his brother. “You can fail right in the intro of Phantom Liberty and lose access to the entire main quest of the DLC if you ignore an objective,” he wrote.
After completing the Pacifica questline in the main game, you will receive a call that starts the Phantom Liberty questline. Within a mission called “Hole in the Sky,” you are to rescue NUS President Rosalind Myers. The user’s brother is said to have been driving “like an idiot” and missed said rescue. This ended the entire questline.
You can straight up fail Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty’s introduction and lose access to the entire DLC’s main quest if you choose to ignore the objective and let Myers die with a special cut scene and line delivery from Johnny if you do so! shout out to my brother for driving like… pic.twitter.com/Ih5bkDfDld

If the same happens to you, a scene follows in which V wakes up after a blackout in Dogtown. She lies on the floor and looks at Johnny Silverhand, who stands in front of her and makes it clear that the mission has failed. “Your presidential rescue op. Miserable failure,” he says, but then is grateful for the freedom he has won. “Honestly though, good fucking riddance.” He now wants V and him to get on with their lives, looking first for a presumably alcoholic beverage.
Don’t worry: If you reach this end by mistake or on purpose, you can simply load the last save game and start the mission again to save Myers after all. You can find out more about the DLC in our review of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Also, there is a mini game with Silverhand as the main character in the expansion.
