Mages has announced that a new game from the popular visual novel series Memories Off will be released in 2024. This upcoming release is not a spin-off or a related game like SINce Memories: Under the Starry Sky from 2021. Instead, it will be a brand-new mainline title created to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
The original Memories Off was released on September 30, 1999, for the PlayStation. It just marked its 24th anniversary last week.

The new game is titled Memories Off: Not Always True, and its Japanese title is a wordplay indicating duality, opposites, contrasts, and various possibilities. It will also introduce a new story.
Another noteworthy aspect is the talented team working on Memories Off: Not Always True. The story will be written by Naotaka Hayashi, known for his work on the 4th and 5th games of the series, as well as the critically acclaimed Steins;Gate.
The character design will return to its origins, with Mutsumi Sasaki, who previously worked on the first two games and the Chaos sub-series of the Science-Adventure franchise.
Lastly, the music will be composed by Takeshi Abo, who has worked on multiple games in the series and the Science Adventure franchise, including Steins;Gate.
Currently, there is no specific release date for Memories Off: Not Always True (although sometime around September 30, 2024, is a good guess), and the supported platforms are still unknown. However, it will undoubtedly be a romance visual novel.
As for an English localization, it remains uncertain. However, considering that this is a brand-new story, there is a possibility of localization. Spike Chunsoft has been localizing many visual novels from Mages, so there is hope for an English version.
