After acquiring your citizenship with the UC Vanguard in Starfield, you will be sent on a special mission that, for a change, has nothing to do with the Terrormorphs. The quest “The Devils You Know” will ask you to attend a meeting with a mysterious stranger who has a rather big request for you to carry out.
In this mission you will have to hunt down someone known as “the Witcher” in the vast expanse of outer space, but first we need to gather some information about his location. So, below we explain how to complete the mission “The Devils You Know” from UC Vanguard in Starfield.
Starfield Mission Guide: The Devils You Know
After your citizenship ceremony with Deputy Macintyre in Starfield, she will inform you that there is someone in subsection seven of the MAST building who wants to speak with you. She won’t tell you who, and she will tell you that what you learn from the mysterious stranger must remain a secret.

Take the elevator to Subsection Seven and proceed down the hallway to the chamber containing the stranger we must meet: Vae Victis. When you approach him, you will have to use the Intercom on the nearby desk to be able to communicate with him.
He will tell you about himself and why the UC Vanguard has him detained. He will also tell you about a renegade weapons specialist known as Reginald Orlase, alias “the Witcher.”
This specific person managed to escape from the UC after the Colonial War, and if you manage to locate him for Victis, he will give you the location of Hadrian’s research team. Hadrian is also going to need them for the Dreadmorph investigation, so we’d better get on with it.

Return to Deputy Macintyre for some additional details. She will approve Vae Victis’ plan for you to locate Reginald Orlase in exchange for the location of Hadrian’s research team, but she will have one request; she bring him back alive.
With that, head to the local Vanguard boss, Captain Marquez. It can be found on the La Guarida space station, located in the Lobo system. Talk to her and ask her for the location of Reginald Orlase, whom she knows as “the Witcher”, and she will give you the last known coordinates of him.

At this point, you will now want to travel to the Etherea Ruins, also in the Wolf system. You will see the Witcher when you arrive, and he will immediately become hostile and start shooting at you in the field of debris.
Now, we know that Deputy Macintyre wants the Warlock returned alive, but there’s not much that can be done when he’s opening fire on us. He can disable his engines and board his ship to try to make contact with him, but he will refuse to revive either way.

That being said, we simply destroy their ship and recover our evidence from their remains. Return this evidence to Vae Victis, who will know that we did what we had to do with the Witcher, and will now gladly give us the location of Hadrian’s research team.
In your next mission, War Relics, you will have to recover them.
