The best Genshin Impact Neuvillette build is a little different from what you might be used to with your other DPS characters. Neuvillette power washes your enemies and scrubs them into oblivion, but he doesn’t actually need good attack stats to do it. Like Nilou and other support characters, Neuvillette scales with HP and can deal a considerable amount of damage if you raise that value high enough. However, his setup also has some drawbacks.
In this guide you will find the best Genshin Impact Neuvillette build, including its best weapons and the artifact values you should focus on.

Genshin Impact best Neuvillette build
All of Neuvillette’s abilities except the normal attack and the first level charged attack scale with his HP, so that’s his most important stat. Hydro damage or general attack are also important, but you also need to think about energy recharge. Neuvillette’s powerful elemental blast costs 70 energy, but he’s not very good at generating energy particles himself.
Genshin Impact Neuvillette – Best Weapon
Neuvillette’s best weapon is his signature, the Eternal River tome, which was introduced in version 4.1. It has a high critical damage modifier as a secondary value, which may seem strange for Neuvillette, but there is a good reason for it. Neuvillette doesn’t scale with attack, only HP, so the extra critical damage is a nice bonus.
The passive ability also fits him perfectly. It increases the user’s HP, and when the user’s HP increases or decreases, which is common with Neuvillette, the charged damage increases.
The next best choice is Ballad of the Boundless Blue, a 4-star catalyst available during one of the 4.1 events. Energy Charge is its secondary value, which Neuvillette needs a lot, and it boosts the user’s normal and charged attack by a certain percentage when a normal or charged attack hits. This effect stacks three times, giving you an attack boost of at least 18 percent even at the first refinement level.
The Battle Pass weapon Sacrificial Jade also works well with Neuvillette. If the equipping character is out of the field for five seconds or more, he gets a 32 percent HP buff and a 40 increase in elemental magic. The effect wears off 10 seconds after he enters the field, but it buys you a short window of time to use Neuvillette’s skill, Burst, and at least one charged attack before you switch him out and use him again.
If you have trouble maintaining Neuvillette’s energy, you should try Favonious Codex. It increases energy recharge and generates particles when the user lands a critical hit. Therefore, it also fits well with Neuvillette’s ideal artifact set.
Genshin Impact Neuvillette – Best Artifacts
Marechaussee Hunter was practically (and probably) created for Neuvillette, as it perfectly fits its unique needs, especially if you use Tome of Eternal Flow.
- 2-part effect: Increases charged attack damage by 15 percent
- 4-part effect: Increases the user’s critical strike rate by 12 percent for five seconds and stacks three times
Most of the damage Neuvillette takes right now is from charged attacks that also drain and restore HP, which means you can make excellent use of the entire set. It’s worth using it even without Eternal Flow. Additional damage is always welcome.
Nymph’s Dream also works well for Neuvillette.
- 2-part effect: Increases hydro damage by 15 percent
- 4-part effect: All attacks, skills, and burst damage create a stack of Mirrored Nymph. You can have up to three stacks, each increasing the user’s Hydro damage and attack.
You can mix the 2-part effect of Nymph’s Dream with two parts of Heart of Depth to get 30% Hydro damage, or two parts of Tenacity of the Millelith and Vourukasha’s Glow for a 40% HP buff.
If you are still in the early game, Martial Artist is a useful set for Neuvillette.
- 2-part effect: Increases normal and charged attack damage by 15 percent
- 4-part effect: After the character uses an elemental ability, normal and charged attacks deal 25% more damage for eight seconds
Neuvillette artifact statistics
The main values of Neuvillette are:
- HP
- Hydro damage
- Critical hit rate
- Critical hit damage
Only Neuvillette’s normal and level one charged attacks scale with his attack value. So unlike most other characters, you won’t get much benefit from boosting his attack. If you use Eternal Flow, make sure you don’t stack his critical rate higher than 70 percent. From this point on, the benefit will diminish and you’d better stick to critical damage.
Genshin Impact best Neuvillette F2P build
Catalyst users always have a hard time in F2P builds, as the current selection of free catalysts is a bit sparse compared to other craftable weapons. Neuvillette is in luck here, however, thanks to a Fontaine Catalyst that you can craft with a Midlander Billet.
Neuvillette F2P weapon
Flowing Purity is Neuvillette’s best free weapon and really suits his need for more HP. Flowing Purity has Attack as a secondary value, which isn’t really that useful for Neuvillette, but the passive ability has it all. Elemental damage increases by at least eight percent when the equipping character uses his skill or burst, and they create a life band.
This binding increases HP by 24 percent – creating a good window of opportunity to perform Neuvillette’s more powerful attacks – and when it disappears after 15 seconds, it provides a two percent elemental damage bonus for every additional 1,000 HP generated by the Binding of Life.
Neuvillette will require a lot of HP to get the most out of this effect, but if you’re lucky with your artifact stats, this effect is definitely worth the effort.
The 3-star evasion spell Exciting Tales of the Dragonslayers works quite well for Neuvillette thanks to his secondary HP stat, but his passive’s attack buff doesn’t do much for him. Magic Guide works well. It gives Neuvillette extra elemental mastery – useful if you’re using it with someone like Fischl or Diona – and it increases the damage dealt to enemies afflicted with Hdyro, which is all enemies Neuvillette faces.
Is Neuvillette good in Genshin Impact?
HoYoverse designed Neuvillette to be a damage machine with a touch of Honkai Star Rail’s Blade in his setup, and in this role he is exceptional. Neuvillette can take on strong opponents and large crowds with his supercharged attack. Unless they have Hydro Resistance, they’ll get away with a pretty big dent in their proverbial armor – and then probably won’t be able to get away if Neuvillete uses his attack another time.
Neuvillette’s normal attacks and basic charged attack scale pretty well with his attack, on par with Wanderer and Yae Miko. However, his level two charged attack is the cornerstone of his setup. He charges for a few seconds and unleashes a surge of water that deals damage based on his HP. Also, his HP drops to 50%, so keep that in mind if he’s in danger of being overpowered.
His skill deals Hydro damage once and creates a spike that deals additional Hydro damage at regular intervals, both scaling with his HP. Neuvillette’s Burst deals three instances of Hydro damage – an initial “skill damage” with a high damage modifier and two additional waterfalls that scale slightly less.
Neuvillette’s only drawback is that he relies on his ability and burst to use his charged level two attack frequently. Both abilities produce spring water drops, which Neuvillette uses to heal himself and shorten the time it takes him to charge his attack. Since his cooldowns are slow and he has an energy problem, you need to plan your attack pattern more carefully and have an energy battery on hand. Otherwise, his fully charged attack will take too long to be really useful.
Should I bet on Neuvillette?
Genshin has no shortage of hydro characters, but not that many proper DPS hydro characters. If you missed Ayato and Childe, then it’s not a bad idea to try your luck with Neuvillette. He’s pretty beginner-friendly, since you can reach Fontaine to collect materials without encountering an adventure rank obstacle, and building a team around him is pretty easy.
If you have Ayato, Childe, or both and just want to build a meta team, you can probably do without Neuvillette for now.
