The servers for WWE 2K22 will be shutting down early next year, according to an announcement made by Visual Concepts and 2K Games.

On January 3, 2024, the latest installment in the wrestling game franchise will no longer be available for features like community creations and online matches.

This news and the shutdown date indicate that the game’s servers were active for less than 2 years. WWE 2K22 was released on March 11, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

A sequel has already been released earlier this year, as the franchise has traditionally been an annual release, with the exception of WWE 2K21 being canceled. The company emphasized this point when announcing the server shutdown date. However, some players may not view this positively, as they will have to purchase a new game to access online services.

For those who want to continue playing online after January 3rd, WWE 2K23 is the next best option. It is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
